◎简　　介
　　导演尤瑟夫·夏因首部被戛纳邀请的影片，并在评选中惜败给了《陆军野战医院》，本片被选入埃及影史百佳，改编自Abdel Rahman El Sharkawi 的小说。那时埃及还在英国的殖民统治下，反映了埃及三十年代农村状况，农民生活在自己土地上种植棉花，一年一度的灌溉来临。镇上农民被政府告知自己灌溉时间被缩短至只有几天，农民们团结起来和权贵阶层为自己被侵害的利益作斗争⋯⋯
另外本片主角演员Mahmoud El-Meliguy表演十分出色，他出演的农民Mohamed Abu Swelam 这个角色始终在激烈的斗争，一方面他希望守住自己的土地不受权贵侵犯，另一方面又对农民们的抗争前途表示无望。事实也证明了他的悲观想法。
本片也表达了导演渴望阿拉伯人民主宰中东的愿望 （1967年以色列发动第三次中东战争，埃及丧失大片国土）本片名字的阿拉伯文开头也是巴解组织的标...
