《吃你的鲶鱼》呈现的几乎全部是凯瑟琳的视角：没有摄制组，只有固定在她的轮椅后面的摄像机。导演亚当·伊森伯格、塞内姆·图森和诺亚·阿尔乔曼德（凯瑟琳的儿子）从900多个小时的录音中，整理出一幅残酷而诚实的，关于凯瑟琳的画像。渐冻症不仅摧毁了凯瑟琳的肌肉，也给她的婚姻带来了沉重的压力：她的丈夫无力照顾她，专业护理人员也很辛苦。尽管凯瑟琳很无助，她仍展现出了自己的批判和幽默精神。
