　　男孩哈勒姆（杰米?贝尔 Jamie Bell 饰）自小就十分依恋母亲，他喜欢拿着妈妈的东西胡闹：拿眼线笔画眼线、拿唇膏到处涂抹、用妈妈的耳钉帮自己穿耳洞……然而，他的母亲却突然离世了，之后他的爸爸娶了他的继母。哈勒姆十分悲伤，正处在青春叛逆期的他怀疑母亲是被他的继母谋害的。于是，哈勒姆把自己慢慢于是隔绝开来，经常喜欢独自一人在树屋内远远的偷窥着别人，为的是能探究出母亲的死亡之谜，帮她复仇……
