　　加布里埃（马修·阿马立克 Mathieu Amalric 饰）是一名在出版社工作的编辑，近日里，他对自己的工作产生了强烈的质疑。曾经，加布里埃是一名自由职业者，可以随心所欲的创作自己喜爱的作品，如今，他被局限在狭窄的办公室之中，无比怀念曾经自由的生活，可又下定不了辞职的决心。
　　在感情生活里，加布里埃也是这样的犹豫不决。他十分想念前女友珍妮（珍妮·巴利巴尔 Jeanne Balibar 饰）的成熟和性感，却又放不下现任女友安娜（维吉妮·拉朵嫣 Virginie Ledoyen 饰）的年轻和单纯。亚德（弗朗索瓦·克鲁塞 Fran?ois Cluzet 饰）是加布里埃的好友，他的死讯让加布里埃开始重新思考起什么才是他生命中真正重要的东西。
