　　菲奥里（珍妮·考特尼 Jeni Courtney 饰）在很小的时候就失去了母亲，一直和祖父过着相依为命的生活。关于菲奥里的家族一直流传着一个传说，他们的祖先莱姆（Gerald Rooney 饰）在罗恩岛遇见了一只水妖，当水妖褪下了妖怪的皮囊后，里面走出的是一位美丽的女孩诺拉。莱姆藏起了水妖的皮，和诺拉坠入了情网，两人结婚后生下了好几个孩子。
　　有一天，诺拉发现了被丈夫藏起来的皮，于是她决定要返回大海，而之后漫长的岁月里，莱姆家族里总会出现一个黑头发的男孩，这一代，这个黑头发的男孩是菲奥里的弟弟吉米（Dave Duffy 饰），而吉米在很小的时候就被卷入大海失踪了。再度登上罗恩岛，菲奥里发现岛上有人类居住的痕迹。
