　　“鳄鱼先生”迈克·邓迪（保罗·霍根饰）是一个著名的冒险家，同时还是一个猎杀鳄鱼的好手，平时他居住在澳大利亚内陆的荒郊野外。现在他要开始最新的一次冒险，目的地就是与他平时的生活环境完全不同的新世界——美国加利福尼亚的洛杉矶。事情的起因源自于邓迪的妻子苏（琳达·柯兹洛斯基饰），这个土生土长的美国女子本来与邓迪一起过着平静悠闲的生活，但有一天她临时被父亲的报馆派往美国采访一宗谋杀案件，而静极思动的邓迪也决定要带儿子出去见见世面，于是一行数人出发前往洛杉矶，当到达了纸醉金迷的大城市后，来自荒野的鳄鱼先生当然亦少不免地闹出一连串的笑话……
