　　瑞奇森是一个热爱潜艇事业的舰长，他驾驶的潜艇被日本的战舰击沉，而他幸免遇难，但却被免职而从事陆上工作。

　　后来他又重新得到一艘潜艇的舰长的位置，他苦训官兵，大家由一开始的不理解到崇拜，在他的新战术下，他们勇敢地来到第七区，也就是在这个区，美国的潜艇多次被日本击沉。他带领大家运用新战术击沉了日本的战舰，但在一次战斗中，他们的潜艇险些被击沉，而舰长也受重伤，副舰长负责起指挥工作，在舰长的帮助下，他们利用勇气加智慧，击沉了日本的潜艇。获得了胜利。

　　但舰长也因伤重而光荣牺牲了。
