　　性情刻薄、冷酷的守财奴埃比尼泽•斯克鲁奇（金•凯瑞 Jim Carrey 配音），面对温暖的圣诞节，却表现出讨厌周遭的一切庆祝活动。圣诞临近，他想尽办法去剥削他那忠诚可靠的雇员鲍勃•克莱切特（加里•奥德曼 Gary Oldman 配音）以及爽朗乐观的侄子弗莱德（科林•费斯 Col in Firth 配音）。打从一开始，埃比尼泽根本就无心享受假期，只想像平常那样独自一个人待在家里。让埃比尼泽想象不到的是，他梦见刚逝去的合伙人约瑟夫•马利（加里•奥德曼 Gary Oldman 配音）的鬼魂。他希望能够借机帮助埃比尼泽，避免他以后走上自己的老路，后悔不堪。约瑟夫告诉埃比尼泽，在他之后还会有三个幽灵来拜访他……很快，这三个分别被称为圣诞节的"过去之灵"、"现在之灵"和"未来之灵"（金•凯瑞 Jim Carrey 配音）的鬼魂就找到了他，唤醒他人性的另一面……

　　本片改编自查尔斯•狄更斯创作于1843年的同名小说，本片是迪士尼第一部将以IMAX 3D方式发行的影片，影片中的人物表情都是通过“表演捕捉”完成的。
