1942 年出生於纽约布鲁克林的 Carole King 四岁时便开始弹钢琴，大学时曾组过乐团，不过其是以词曲创作的身份初入乐坛并崭露头角，与其第一任丈夫 Gerry Goffin 是词曲创作的最佳黄金组合， 1987 年两人一同荣获 Natiional Academy of Songwriters 终身成就奖， 1990 年同时引荐进入词曲创作及摇滚名人殿堂。 Carole King 除了词曲创作的成就之外， 1971 年其以歌手身份发行的专辑「 Tapestry 」 ( 织锦画 ) 更是大获好评，专辑停留排行榜上长达 302 週，其中还包括 15 週的冠军宝座，於隔年的葛莱美奖颁奖典礼上更是出尽锋头，成为第一位女性囊获「年度最佳专辑」、「年度最佳唱片 (It's Too Late) 」、「年度最佳歌曲 (You've Got A Friend) 」、「年度最佳流行乐女歌手」等四项大奖，全球专辑销售量超过一千万张。
