　　与其他动物不同的是，虎繁育和养殖业急速发展了起来，并带动了旅游、娱乐、贸易、非法贸易产业。虎展示和表演在动物园和马戏团成为了娱乐亮点，虎制品（包括虎骨酒、虎皮、虎鞭、虎牙、虎骨等）在野生动物市场泛滥了起来。濒危的老虎成为了人们娱乐、彰显地位的消费品，而不是要去拯救的濒临消失的野生动物。无数机构和单位都打着科研和保护的名义在繁育老虎，却没有实际工作从产业链中产生。虎贸易链中的非法成分以及对市场的保护让这一产业像是黑手党Manfia的存在。
